Conclusion

In our time as Library Interns we were able to accomplish many tasks which will benefit both the school and ourselves. On our previous blogs we have listed almost all of our accomplishments, but there are a few more.

During our time as Interns we were also taught how to catalog different genres of books by putting returned books back in their rightful spots. This specific task taught us organizational skills as well as the process of learning the correct location of the books.

We worked on various assignments together which taught us a useful skill to have, not just in a job but in real life, the skill of working and accomplishing together.

I, Destiny, was also able to recommend fellow students books that I thought they would enjoy based on previous reads. Where I am a  junior, I have had the chance to meet a lot of different students, teachers and staff over the years, plus my knowledge gained as being a regular in the library, I was able to graciously help some members of the school in deciding a book that they would enjoy to the fullest.

We do believe the Library Internship is a great opportunity for the students of Apponequet as it teaches a lot of skills that will be useful in our future.
And with this blog, our time as F period Library Interns for Semester 1 of 2019-2020 is complete.

"What is Happening in Laker Nation" board

In this assignment, we were asked to look through the local newspaper for all articles and photographs about our school, Apponequet.  Once found, we cut them out and posted them on the rolling bulletin board located in the library. We looked through the newspapers on a weekly basis throughout our time as interns.  We also placed the lunch schedule and other important school related papers on the board.

DVD Organization

Due to my popularity with checking out DVD’s, Mrs. O’Brien asked me to organize the DVD section of the library.  Using the shelf list, I was able to organize and check stock of the library DVD'S.

Bulletin Boards

Our first major accomplishment was creating the October bulletin board.  We created the backdrop and found books that represented our theme of Halloween.  We displayed the books in the library so other students and staff could check them out.   We were also assigned the task of creating an eye catching slogan. In staying with our Halloween theme, we came up with, “Get Your Spook On”.

At the request of Mr. Solomon,  we chose Graphic Novels as the theme for the November bulletin board.  As you may already know, Mr. Solomon is a huge fan of graphic novels so we decided to please him with a board. Just like the October board, we created an eye catching slogan, “Kick Down the Door to a New Book”, and displayed graphic novels that we believed people would enjoy in the library.

College & Career Library Internship Assignment

One of the major accomplishments we were able to complete during our time as library interns was updating the College and Career section of the library.  We gathered different college information during the College Fairs and displayed it on the board and shelves at the back corner of the library. While the corner had been assembled by prior interns, we updated the college information and how it was displayed. In doing so, we were quick to notice that the board was assembled by using tape which we thought to be a major problem do to it ripping the back drop whenever new material needed to be put up. We changed it and used staples which we believe would be a better alternative.

Book Review Project

This video is a book review of the book, “Runaway Twin” which I read and think the students
of Apponequet would enjoy. My fellow intern, Destiny, edited the video for me as I am not
particularly good with computers.

This project was completed in the last few weeks of our internship and took a bit
longer than we hoped.  I hope you enjoy this wonderful video that Destiny and I
created for you.

I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars because the ending could have been better
as it did not finish as well as the story was going along.
